Hotel breakfast
 

I always look at the service first, and decide if it's worth it. €5 sounds pretty appealing, but not if it's just a continental service.

When I ask for it the night before, my favorite hotel brings the tray to my room...a delicious pot of coffee, fresh juice, a basketed assortment of warm fresh pastries, butter, jams, etc. for 10E's
Plus, I don't have to have done my hair yet... <GRIN>
So that becomes a BARGAIN! And for me, it is civilized.

You mean breakfast room service? It's always continental if it's in your room. No way to bring up a buffet for you.
Five euros for continental is pretty inexpensive these days to me. It's usually at least 8 euros and up.

given the charge for coffee and pastries in many cafes in Paris, 5E sounds fair--in a neighborhood tea room you could pay less, you could pay more. It will of course depend on the quality, vs the convenience.
Your hotel can tell you what they include in breakfast if you care to ask.

5 euros is a bargain, remember you can eat all you want, have cereal, warm cream, fruit, then have the rolls with ham and cheese, lots of hot coffee, all kinds of stuff, load up and then have a light lunch, unless you go for the Italian sitdown lunch with multi courses, light breakfast, big lunch, or big breakfast , light lunch, its your choice, Buck

I have e-mailed the hotel to find out what is included. It is advertised as continental. I will let all of you know what they say. Another issue we have -- breakfast starts at 7am and we will likely be out too early for breakfast on two mornings. I need to see if they can do anything for us under those circumstances.

Continental breakfast is ususally what SuzieC describes more or less.
You should ask reception if they can accomodate you for an earlier breakfast on those two days.

The breakfast described by buckspc is a 'buffet breakfast' rather than a 'continental' breakfast...

Cereal, fruit and meats are not a part of a continental breakfast, nor is option to 'eat all you want' (although continental IS usually all I want).
