I have seen very positive comments by Fodorites for this hotel over the years. Does anyone have a link to a website please?

I have stayed there. Cheap, good location, squeaky furniture, no charm. It was more like a larger version of my college dormitory. I slept well there, however. The toilet was so small I could not stand inside with door closed.

When about France, I read the reviews in French on TA.
For hotel Bonaparte there are 14 reviews, 6 are negative.

There are 180 reviews in English, with a much better ratio, 14 only negative, but I tend to follow French reviews on French hotels.

I didn't enjoy my stay there but the location is fantastic. I understand some rooms are nicer than others. My bathroom was very odd. Greg, friends of mine had your room, or at least one with the same problem.

I prefer the Clément which is in the same arrondisement, one block off blvd St. Germain. You might want to use it as a comparison. Note, the least expensive room look out on a "coutyard" which is really an exaggeration. They can be dark but avoid street noise. The hotel does have AC.

Another inexpensive choice in great location .. Hotel St Pierre.. on Rue des Ecoles de Medicine..

If OP can tell us if he/she wants another hotel, what kind of hotel etc.

An non expensive one which has a lot of charm is Hotel du Lys, rue serpente.

One much more expensive but I got a great discount.

I've stayed at both Bonaparte and Hotel du Lys several times over the years. The Bonaparte has a great location and very friendly front desk. The rooms do vary; I have had "nice" bathrooms as well as quirky ones. I think the hotel has become a 3* since adding a breakfast room.

The Lys also is in a super location and has more charm,IMO. Historically has had rather indifferent people at the desk. I quit staying there as I have aged and there was not an elevator, but I see online that they do mention a lift these days. Breakfast used to be included in the price, and it was what you'd pay anywhere up from 9 euro at other hotels--great croissants! Did not check to see if it is still included.

Another relatively inexpensive hotel that I have recently discovered is the Michelet Odeon, another great location in the 6th.

I believe the Bonaparte is fodorite Ira's go to hotel in Paris.

Our own favorite is the du Danube. It is a wonderful hotel in a great location.

Hi All,

The Bonaparte is now 3*.

At 159 E and up, it is still a competitive price.

The large room at 193E compares favorably with the Danube's superior room at 250E.

The location is still terrific, but the neighborhood has changed since our first visit 30+ years ago. It has become too trendy for our taste, but might be just the thing for someone else.
