Hotel Belvedere or Florence in Bellagio

We are staying at the Grand Hotel Serbelloni with 2 other couples. Yet another couple would like to join us there & now there is no availability at the Serbelloni. What would be a better choice between these 3 star Bellagio hotels, Belvedere or Florence?

The Belvedere gets consistently good reviews on this forum. You can search here for info about it easily.

I know nothing about the Florence. And from a searching standpoint, it suffers from a name that is almost impossible to retrieve here (distinct from the city Florence, that is).

You'll have about as much luch locating a post about Florence KY! At least for that, you can search for "KY" or "kentucky".

Or mall.

You'all...

;)
I can only speak about the Belvedere, which I would strongly recommend. Excellent facility which offers a commanding view of the lake. Another strong point is its excellent staff--very helpful and accommoding.
However, assuming that the Florence is also a decent facility, I wonder when proximity to the Grand Hotel Serbelloni might be the determining factor!

Isabella, The Florence, and the Du Lac are almost next door. The Belvedere is the better hotel but on the hill above town. All 3 are very adequate.

The Hotel Florence is immediately next door to the Serbelloni. We stayed there in October 1999 in a room that had a view (small balcony) of the lake and the Serbelloni. Both our room and bathroom were large and very comfortable. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. I don't know the Belvedere from personal experience, but I can recommend the Florence.

The one drawback about the Florence is their lack of air conditioning -- apparently a special problem because it can be noisy with the windows open. We chose Du Lac for that reason, and because "half of us" really wanted to be right on the lake rather than on the hill.

Would you be so kind as to give me the phone/fax to Belvedere?
I've not been able to locate it on line.

thank you much!

Nicole Apr 24th, 2002 12:49 PM

To Izabella: you can find the phone/fax info on the Belvedere's website at http://www.belvederebellagio.com/. We stayed there in 1997 and enjoyed it very much. We would stay there again if we ever returned to Bellagio.

To: Nicole
Thanks for the website info! i'm awaiting their reply.

du Lac in Varenna also looks classy. Mainly I want a killer view and a glass of wine in hand from my own terrace.

Does du Lac fit the bill?

Howard Apr 24th, 2002 04:25 PM

Izabella, the Belvedere, especially an upper-floor room, definitely meets your requirements!

Bob Apr 24th, 2002 04:34 PM

We stayed at the Belevedere in Oct 99 and enjoyed it.

Howard mentioned the upper floor rooms for view but we had rooms on level 1 (2nd floor in US) and they were the only rooms with very large outdoor patios where we enjoyed much wine and sitting in the evening overlooking the lake.

So if you stay there don't get hung up on being high. The first level was great in our opinion. Plus this hotel is an easy stroll to downtown and not that far from where you are staying. Not next door, but definitely not that bad of a walk.

Howard Apr 25th, 2002 05:33 AM

Hey, Bob, we agree that no matter where you stay in the hotel, you'll get a great view! That's the important thing!
I'll agree about the stroll downtown.
I would also recommend exploring across the street from the hotel, where you climb a 100-step street that leads to an interesting open area that affords some wonderful views.
