Hotel/B&B near Montrose in Scotland?
Can anyone recommend a B&B or hotel near Montrose and/or Stonehaven? We hope to stay close to the village of St Cyrus. We’re going in late May.
I thought I had a B&B lined up a long time ago but there was a miscommunication with our reservation and now they are one room short. I’ve asked that B&B owner for the names of other places too. There doesn’t seem to be too much in this area so I’m a bit worried. Budget isn't a huge issue at this point, although keeping it at around 100 gbp per night per double room would be nice if possible.

How many rooms do you need? Many only have 2 or 3 rooms total.
http://www.dunnottarmains.co.uk/index.html is a nice place across the road from Dunnottar castle, but it only has 2 rooms.
http://www.eskviewfarm.co.uk/index.htm - haven't stayed here but it looks nice, its in St Cyrus, and there are 4 rooms.

Thanks janisj. We need 3 rooms. Eskview is actually the place I booked/tried to book originally. The owner there gave me two names, the Hillside Hotel in Montrose and the St Cyrus Hotel. Both of these are "rooms above a pub" sort of deals. I doubt anyone here has stayed at either of them but here's the websites in case anyone is familiar with these places.

Oh well, it'll be an adventure I guess. I sure wish I'd never seen The Wicker Man though.

Received wisdom has the Park Hotel in Montrose as the nicest place there.
I've been in the St Cyrus, and it was OK if a bit worn. It seems to have come up in the world if its web site is anything to go by.
Personally, I'd go north, and stay in Kinneff, Catterline or Stonehaven.
