Hotel/B&B accomodations in Loire Valley
Hello,
I am looking for a good hotel or B&B recommendation in Loire Valley, preferably either in Amboise, Blois, or Chambord. I would appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks.

You don;t mention how you're traveling or what you hope to see.
If you're driving I would suggest a private chateau - which are outside the towns - but are a truly unique and wonderful experience. And can be quite inexpensive as long as you don;t go for the deluxe resort type.
If you have to use public transit you may be better off in Tours - from where you can get day trips to see the chateaux.

Hello nytraveler,
We will be travelling by car and are total of two adults and one infant. We are planning to see a couple of chateaus in the area and mainly enjoy the region.
If you could recommend a few chateaus, I would highly appreciate it.
Thanks

I can recommend Le Vieux Manoir in Amboise, owned by an American couple. Small 6 room B&B with sumptuous breakfast and nice gardens. Centrally located, 15-minute walk to the chateau, 10-minute walk to the river.

We stayed at le Manoir les Minimes in Amboise. It is just off the D-road and has courtyard parking. Very easy to get in/out of Amboise from there for exploring chateaux country. Our room was around 115€ and very nice. The breakfast (11&euro was fine and copious enough for us, but others prefer to go into town to a boulangerie (about 2-3 blocks).

There is a small hotel on the grounds of Chateau Chambord (or at least right next to it, if not on the grounds). It was listed in my Michelin guide for the Loire Valley that I can not find right now. The price was quite reasonable (I'm cheap and will look into it when I go back) and had a good write up in the guide.

We stayed in a private chateaux near Chinon - Chateau des Reaux. It was quite inexpensive and we loved the expreience - but they don;t serve meals except breakfast. There is dinner en famille several nights per week if guests request it - but it's a 2-hour 8pm drinks and dinner not suitable for a baby. (Perhaps the owners could help you arrange for a maid to watch baby while you do this.)
We loved the experience and I think it would work well with an infant - since there are extensive grounds to explore and relax in when you want. There is also a small lounge just for guests with a variety of tourist literature, a mini-bar and a variety of beverages on the honor system.

The hotel within the grounds of Chambord is Le Grand St Michel. Very basic hotel, 70E per room per night when I stayed there in 2004. The advantage of staying there is that when you wake up in the morning, you'll be looking straight at the chateau and you'll have it all to yourself before the other tourists arrive.
