Hotel at/near Paris Orly?

We are arriving quite late from Rome (10:30pm) and leave next day from CDG about 1pm. Getting in so late, we thought it best just to stay at Orly and have a relaxed next morning before heading to CDG.

Can anyone personally recommend a good Orly hotel? We'd like to stay under E150 and close to train. AND does the RER go directly from Orly to CDG? If so, how much time should we plan on to go from Orly to CDG? It is a weekday. THanks all!

A shuttle train called OrlyVal will take you from either terminal to the suburban train (RER) station at Antony in about eight minutes. The RER goes directly from Antony to CDG Terminal 2 in a little over an hour.

There is a hotel right at the Antony station that I have used, and I recommend it highly: hotel-alixia.com - their standard room is €69 on weekends, and easily rivals many €110 accommodations in central Paris.

And since the RER passes through the center of Paris to get from Orly to CDG, there's no real need to stay in Antony -- you could stay at Saint Michel, Châtelet or Gare du Nord.

The grand old luxury hotel across from Gare du Nord is now called the Mercure Terminus Nord, and you can get a room there by booking on the internet (www.accorhotels.com) for 120€. Or you could stay at one of the 55 Ibis hotels in town (about 5 at Gare du Nord) for around 75-85€ -- also bookable on the Accor site.

Travel time to Paris on Orlyval + RER is about 25 minutes.

My preference would be Luxembourg (about 15 minutes from Antony)...but those other stations would also work. The advantage here is that by staying downtown, you could spend the morning sightseeing and go back to the hotel to grab your gear without backtracking to Antony.

Thank you both. I think the better choice is to stay at Orly or the Antony station. We don't want to spend any more time traveling that day. :) We will be dead on our feet and want to get to a hotel quickly. Additionally, we are in Paris a week earlier and limiting our sightseeing to that trip. The morning of our return to US, we both think we will want to just relax and have a leisurely breakfast. If we change our minds, I'm sure we can leave our luggage at hotel and take RER into town then back to hotel to pick up luggage. I will check out the recommendation for hotel alixia..sounds good. :) Any further suggestions are more than welcome! :)

Robespierre, I was thinking..if it is only an 8-mt train ride, do you know how much approx Euro for taxi instead? That late at night and we'll have been on our feet all day, I think a taxi might be worth it if not too costly. thanks!

The taxi would probably take a little longer than the Val, but would surely be less than two adult fares (7,20€ pp).

Thanks. Forgot to mention also that we'll be dragging luggage (one, most assuredly filled with Italian wine, olive oil and aged balsemic vinegar!) :) :) :)
