Hotel area of London?
We were thinking of staying at the Park International Hotel in So. Kensington while vacationing in London. Is this a nice, safe area to stay in? Noisy? How close to Earl's Court area? Would appreciate any suggestions.

Don't know the hotel or the exact address but I love staying in South Ken.
Next area west is Earl's Court, so not far from there--a couple of tube stops, or a nice walk.

Thanks for the reply. I failed to mention the reason I asked about this hotel's distance to Earl's Court is because I heard that area (Earl's Court) is a bit on the seedy, unsavory, side.

Hi,

I used to live on the edge of Earl's Court and will be going back soon - five years ago when I lived there - it's wasn't really that bad of an area. There are lots of tourists there (lots of Australians) so there are a few pickpockets, etc, hanging around. But still relatively safe. I would say the Park International would be a safe place to stay and it's in a good location. It might be a bit noisy - traffic noise.

Dee - I stayed at the Park International last December. The area seemed very safe to me. The hotel is right on Cromwell Road, which is a fairly busy thoroughfare. I did not notice any traffic noise while I was in the hotel, but my room was not on the street.

The Park Int'l is about a 5 minute walk from the Gloucester Road Tube stop. Again I would say this is a very safe walk because it's all on the sidewalk next to Cromwell Road. There are also a number of moderately priced (for London) restaurants on Cromwell Road. Nothing special, but plenty of decent places to eat.

The hotel itself is good but not great, but I felt I got what I paid for. The "buffet breakfast" they advertise in the web site is just a big continental breakfast - 3 or 4 kinds of cereal, one kind of cheese, and lots of different breakfast breads, coffee, tea, orange juice.

Sorry I'm not sure how far it is to Earl's Court.

Just wondering how the walk was from Glouster tube to Harrington Hall if coming in late after sightseeing all day.
