Hotel and Restaurant recommendations for 4 nights in Venice

My husband and I will be in Venice for 4 nights in May and would love recommendations for reasonable hotels that are close to Piazza San Marco if possible. Also, we love to try out-of-the-way restaurants, so we'd love input there also. We were in Venice for a short stay years ago and look forward to a more leisurely pace this time!

"Reasonable" can mean anything. What is your budget?

I always try to stay in a hotel away from San Marco and it’s tourist crowds. Venice is small; choose an area a little farther away from San Marco.
Look across the Grand Canal at Dorsoduro neighborhood or Cannaregio.

For a great meal in Venice, try Ai Mercanti.
We have dined there several times, never fails to impress.

Another vote for Dorsoduro. Maybe do a search for hotels around Campo San Barnaba or Academia. Both areas are good, not too far from Saint Marco, and no bridges to cross when arriving by vaporetto at the Ca’ Rezzonico or Academia stops.

My "go to" hotel is in Cannaregio, near the Guglie vap/alilaguna stop so it is extremely easy to get to. https://www.hotelarcadia.net
I've stayed there several times now and loved it each time. The rooms are very quiet and comfortable, the bathrooms immaculate, the staff very helpful and the breakfasts excellent. If you are arriving by plane you can take the alilaguna to Guglie and simply walk round the corner to the hotel - about 100 metres - or catch the 4.2 or 5.2 vaporetto from the Piazzale Roma or the station. You can even walk from the station if you wish - about 5 minutes, Once you are there it's a very short walk to the San Marcuola stop where you can catch a vaporetto that will take you up or down the Grand canal and wherever you want to go in Venice.
