Hotel:Albergo del Senato-Rome

We've booked this hotel in Rome for 2 nites mid-June at $490,000 lira /nite. Is it worth the price? Great location?
Also, would appreciate restaurant suggestions for lunch & dinner. Thanks

I stayed there earlier this month (May 2001), and thought it was very good. but we only paid 400.000 - - a lot depends on how affordable is this for you, and what are your other alternatives.

This hotel has gotten a lot of messages in the past two weeks, especially in comparison to Cesari (which I rate as essentially as good, and apparently cheaper), and likewise, Santa Chiara and Due Torri (neither of which do I know personally).

I think you will get other helpful answers here comparing fairly comparable hotels in the area.

And for dinner in that area, I recommend Le Volte. The staff at del Senato can point you right to it.

Best wishes,

Rex

Becky,
Keep trying to post trip stuff on this site, but darn, if my family doesn't just keep getting in the way!!
I booked del Senato for our last 2 days in italy, and was very happy with it!
We paid 390.000 L /night for mid July, and had two front corner rooms with a stunning view.
Staff is very friendly, and hotel is elegant, and comfy.
rooms are charming, and small, and bathrooms are clean and modern.
I would definitely go back.
We also ate at Le Volte, and enjoyed the meal.
It gets *very* crowded, if you try to go after 8.
Lunch, try any of the places around the piazza (except for the Mc D, of course!)
or in P. Navona.
