hotel 4 stars in Paris under 220 euros
 

I'm staying in Paris for a week from june 19.I've already booked Hotel Balzac in the 8th for 200 euros a night,deluxe room.Is there any trick?How is the location.?Can you suggest me hotels near La Concorde,Madeleine,4 or 5 stars at this price?

You asked for a hotel under 220E in your title, so I'll respond to that. The Hotel Royal St. Honore (in the 1st, right near the Place Vendome) is 220E per night, including breakfast. The rooms are large (ask for one of the new rooms) and the marble bathrooms are very nice and spacious. We have stayed there on many occasions and have found the staff to be very helpful and service-oriented. This is a deluxe hotel in a deluxe location.

There aren't actually any 5* hotels--the highest official category is 4*luxe. If you see one advertised as a 5* that's the hotel's own designation.

Getting a 4* hotel for 200€ is doing very well--most are considerably higher unless you manage to snag a discount. If you can get a room at the Royal St-Honoré for 220€ you would be very happy; it's a fine hotel in a great location.

I don't really understand why you are looking for another hotel if you have exactly what you want -- a 4* hotel for 200 euro. I haven't stayed there, but I think the Balzac is consistently regarded quite well. It's not that far from the other places you mention, central Paris isn't that large. It is nearest the George V metro, as I understand it. Just as good as the Condorde, in my opinion.

I was wondering why a 4 star deluxe hotel as the Balzac charges only 200 euros for a deluxe room!
Underhill what can you tell me about the size of the rooms and the location of Balzac?It's my 4th time in Paris,I love the city but I still did't find "MY" hotel.Last time I've stayed at de Castiglione.I only had a decent room because I insisted too much with the manager.

It's probably a promotion the hotel is having.

I've read on a review on Tripadvisor saying that there was scaffolding on the hotel's façade.. May be the reason for the promotional, low rates. Also, could be a "run of the house" rate, meaning that you can be given the least desireable room. And it is what will be, because you won't be given a choice.

since its so close to "now", I got curious...went to Laterooms.com and they have a bunch of them. Villa Pantheon was on there, VIlla Luxembourg, as well. VERY much less expensive than 200's... Washington Opera is near the Madeleine, (I think...) was listed.

There have been reports that the Washington Opera takes reservations but redirects clients to a different hotel on arrival, claiming some sort of water or other problem. It would be useful if someone who has stayed there recently could comment.

The Balzac is just off the Avenue Champes Elysees and a block from the George V metro station. You got a good discount off the rack rate and I am sure the hotel will be quite acceptable. The area is touristy, noisy and not near the places most visitors want to see. The metro, #1, will get you easily to most of the places like the Louvre, Tuileries etc. My favorite **** is Hotel Cambon, just off Place Concorde; their promotional rates don't kick in until July however. The Balzac is on a relatively quiet street - 1 or 2 blocks up from Champs Elysee. So Oakglen's warning is a bit off - one block closer, yes it is noisy. The very immediate area is actually not that touristy with limited shops and restaurants- I was walking past the hotel every day for a week and there are far busier streets in Paris. Hotel brochure certainly made hotel look nice and 200 is a very good rate.

Surlok I've booked a deluxe kingbed room marble bathroom.It WAS a promotion and it's not working anymore.
