Hot Springs
Anyone have a recommendation on a good natural springs? I understand there aren't a lot that are close to Reykjavik and I definitely don't want to go to the Blue Lagoon with water from the power plant. I'd love to find one that might have other spa services and a hotel. Am I asking too much? Should I just find a hot springs and be good with it?

Many spas (community swimming baths) have sources that have passed through a power plant, because there is so much energy in the water that it powers the country and 4 aluminium smelters. The benefit of being controlled is that the water temperature is limited and doesn't suddenly offer you a "boil" option We tended to use community spas all over Iceland but we also stayed here https://360hotel.is/ which is lovely, but like a lot of Iceland is a little "remote". I'd not swear to their water source, but there is a town spa just up the road so I suspect..... If you want to visit the power plants you can do that either with a tour or booking directly. This gives you an idea how the geothermal energy iis built into Icelandic life https://www.on.is/en/ This town prides itself on spa au naturale. https://www.visiticeland.com/article...-in-hveragerdi |
