IMO, it's pop/techno. More pop than techno. But fun. Today, while out and about in Brussels, I heard them at two different cafes and in three stores!

Oooh-I listened to Fatima-that is just what I like! Such an eclectic mix.

BTilke & Wally: tell me more about the dress at the clubs you recommended. I am planning to dress up one night and jeans it another so want to be sure I show up appropriate. Don't think I'm going to be venturing out into the suburbs. I am traveling solo 1st time to Paris and know I am likely to go to ground within the city.

Carla Bruni-isn't she Clapton's old squeeze?

Just checking on dress code question. Getting ready to head out. Will give you a report upon return!

"It's odd, but the American group Scissor Sisters is huge in France, Belgium, etc. and virtually ignored in the U.S"

Well, I wouldn't go that far. I've followed them and purchased their music since they hit the scene a few years ago. They are still popular in most large metro areas having big dance/club/gay scenes -- SF, LA, NYC and Chicago for sure. They played two full-house shows here in SF at the Warfield less than two weeks ago, just one stop in a tour I would suppose.

But I do agree with Boy George when he said:

"I think the Scissor Sisters' lack of mainstream success here (in the US) says a lot about America. You hear them everywhere in New York - every bar, every cafe, all the trendy places. But it hasn't crossed over into the mainstream and it's because they're openly gay."
