Hot day to arrive!

Hi, We are arriving in Paris Saturday afternoon, 9aug and see the forcast is for 104 degrees. Tres chaud! We will be staying in the Saint Germain area. Hopefully the hotel is true to it's word and provides A/C. Any suggestions how to spend our first afternoon and stay somewhat sane/cool?
Thanks!!

Get inside any old building even if not AC'd - tour the Opera, or shop/lunch at one of the big department stores. I was there one July when temps were in the mid to high 90s. We just kept plugging along, drinking lots of water, and wearing our washables. There isn't much more you can do. That's why I now do April.

not to sound rude, but what did you except in August ?

Hi Janda,

Paris in August is usually in the 80's.

Having been to Paris many times in summer, I agree that saying "what did you expect" is silly. It is not usually that hot in Paris in July-August at all. Usually it is only 75-85 in the peak of afternoon, and more on the lower end of that.

There was a recent thread on this I said what I did a month ago when it was just a little less hot (around 35-38), so why don't you look for that thread. Just stay out of the sun, mostly. I'd go to a museum if you can't find AC, which you may not. Hey, you could try the catacombs, that's a good idea. They are cooler.

According to "weather.com" the average high temperature for Paris in August over the last 20 years is only 75F., and the average night-time low is 57F. Even with a variance of 20 degrees, the projected high temperature of 106 and a low of 72 for tomorrow is highly unusual. Weather is capricious and can ruin vacations, as the torrential rains ruined our trip to southeastern Germany last year. Got to live with it!
