hot air ballooning in tuscany

Do any of you know of a reputable hot air balloon company in the Tuscany area. I have seen many online, but would like to speak to someone who has done it already. It sounds amazing!!!!!

There are two that do that. The cost is about 100E per person and they take off at 0700 and your drive may be an hour or more. Are you still interested?

yes, I am still interested...don't keep me in suspense any longer... spill the beans and give the website and name of the company!!!!!! Grazie

I did it several years ago and loved it! I had ballooned before but not over the beautiful terrain of southern Tuscany.

It is actually €200/pp and leaves at 6 AM. I went with Robert of Ballooning in Tuscany who lives outside of Montisi.

Isn't that part and parcel of "commercial" (tourist) ballooning everywhere?

Thermals are tough on touristic air-sightseeing everywhere, once the sun gets very high in the sky.

To catch all the excitement at Albuquerque, for example (at Balloon Fiesta time), be prepared to get up about 4 in the morning!

Best wishes,

Rex

Yes, it was Robert that I had checked with years ago--prices have gone up. The other is in Chianti but I do not know a name or website.

We did ballooning in tuscany in 2003 with Robert. It is a great experience. It leaves from Montisi in the earyl a.m.so you would probably want to spend the night before there. We did at La Romita, which we enjoyed, but there are a couple other hotels there that look nice.

We just went with Robert this past May and really enjoyed it. We also stayed at La Romita because it is 5 minutes away. Wonderful dinner at Roberto's restaurant down the street from La Romita. Bring a disposable camera to give to Robert's wife Liz so she can snap some pictures of you as you take off and are flying. We didn't think of this until later of course, but did get great pictures from the balloon of the countryside. I can't say enough great things about Robert and his wife Liz who is an artist. Have a wonderful time.

I just saw this - I went this past May and it was magnificent! So much so that not only am I going to the Balloon Fiesta with my parents next month, we're also going back to Tuscany next May - going to go ballooning again! 3 times in a year, that's a fair bit. (actually I could do it here too pretty easily).

ps. I agree, Robert and Liz are great - we've corresponded a bit since I got back - I'm sending them photos of the Balloon Fiesta...
