Hostess gift recommendations?

While visiting Ireland I will be staying with and meeting relatives. I am looking for recommendations on hostess gifts made in the US. The values can vary. Ideally, it would be items that are not easily obtained in Ireland but whose value would be appreciated or items they would not have there.

Something native to your state would be a good idea. Visit your local souvenir shops for some ideas.

I always enjoy giving people food items that they can't obtain in their area. That way, you don't have to worry about getting something for the house that won't match their decor.

For instance, I'm originally from Texas and when I go back, I always bring my friends in my present location stuffed jalapenos, jalapeno jellies, Texas cornbread mixes, etc. They're always a big hit since they can't be bought where I live now.

Anything from the fire department or police in NYC - cops, t shirts, etc are a big hit now.

A pretty coffee table book of your home town, or sports cap or shirt of the big sports team in your area for kids.
Food items are usually appreciated.
Maybe something from our natives of this country ie- hand made cross, silver jewelry, glass item
Statue of Liberty

I'm from Michigan. I found maple syrup to be a big hit !

I second the maple syrup! Also, something made with cranberries, perhaps a nice bag of cranberry granola.

Rob: A nice book (with photos) from the area where you live.
The relatives might not be too crazy about maple syrup or cranberry products. I would not bring food, unless you know that it would really be appreciated.
