Hostels in Rome?

Suggestions for a hostel in Rome for 4 people (ages 24-26) for 3 nights. We want to stay within walking distance of attractions, in a clean place that feels safe, and has NO curfew. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I have heard very good things about Yellow Hostel from a number of people. My only personal experience is with the Mona Lisa Hostel, which fails on the last criteria (3 am curfew), but was pretty nice besides.

I stayed at the Yellow Hostel in Rome last year. The beds sag, but the hostel is good. However, with 4 people, I would recommend getting a hotel room.

Yellow hostel is a nice one - I have been there. Also try the Beehive, everyone who stays there seems to rave about it.

Buon Viaggio!

Have heard Colours is pretty good - you need to check about the curfew but I would also suggest try an apartment.Might be cheaper split four ways.

The Hotel Panda is very inexpensive, looks nice on its website, has good reviews on tripadvisor, and is centrally located. We didn't stay there, but you might want to check it out.

The Hotel des Artistes (a three star hotel) devotes one floor to a hostel. Guests may use the hotel services. I stayed there two years ago and loved that I didn't feel like I was just crashing somewhere. It's a traditional hostel set up--aka bunks. I remember being impressed with the bathrooms. The best part---sharing a bottle of wine with some girls from Norway in the rooftop bar my last night. It's close to the termini station, but far enough from the seedier spots close to the station. In a group, you'll be fine. Here's the website (excuse its cheesiness): http://www.hostelrome.com/

You could try Hotel Duca d'Abla (www.ducadalba.com) at 165E per night for the two of us. Great location with a very short walk to Colisuem. Good luck.
If you pay in cash there is a 7% deduction in rate.

go to Barnes & Noble or Borders or your local library and check out Let's Go Italy - which covers hostels the type of which you're looking for the best of any guidebook i know. It will list dozens of hostels for Rome and give a rundown of them - warts and all. You may find a pension room for 4 people to rival hostels in price - Let's Go again lists many low-budget pensions and hotels. Written by students your age - published by Harvard Student Agencies.
