Hostels in Paris

I will be taking a trip to Paris for about 5-6 days in May and then going to a different country(not sure where) . I'll be traveling alone and I want to stay in a hostel that will give me an opportunity to meet people. I've looked through the forums here and I wasn't able to find a topic that wasn't a few years old. I would like to keep the price under 100 dollars a night.

The only youth hostle I know in Paris:
On Rue Trousseau, not far from Gare de Lyon.

I have no idea if it's good or not. Have never stayed there but have passed by the place many times when I stayed a few times at Ibis on the other side on the same street.

Most people here are not hostel orented. I suppose you can find reviews on other sites such as tripadvisor...

There are some Hostellig International hostels in Paris:

These would be a great place to start your search and comparison shopping.

Here are a few more to help you get going. Can't recommend any of them personally since I've not stayed at any of them, these links are just from my own bookmarks. When doing research for my Paris trip, I initially thought of staying at a hostel to save money, until I realised that small Parisian hotels were quite affordable and in my price range. Then again, you mentioned wanting to meet people (OTOH, I'm rather unsociable ;))

Agree with the above poster that you might want to check out other websites like LP's Thorntree forum which is more hostel-oriented.

Some other hostels to consider:

FIAP Jean Monnet, 30 rue Cabanis; 75014 PARIS. http://www.fiap.asso.fr/

BVJ http://www.bvjhotel.com/
- BVJ OPERA, near to the department stores and Opera Garnier (I think this one has only just started up as it is not yet on their website)
- BVJ LOUVRE, near the Louvre, Palais Royal and Comédie Française.
- BVJ QUARTIER LATIN, between Notre Dame and the Sorbonne.

I stayed in this one a long time ago, and found it to be perfectly pleasant and well-situated.
