Hsv and Marija, Lobo Mau is the Portuguese for "big bad wolf". Lobo is the male of Canis Lupus species, beeing Loba the female.

Thanks for the clarification Mr. Big Nice Wolf!

Kasefase, it might be best to arrange some travel insurance for your next trip to Europe. If you fall ill or have an accident to could be very expensive for you.

So do you want to imply that your seemingly kind offer in an analogy to little red-riding-hood in fact constitutes an only half-heartedly disguised attack on the OP's hard earned inheritance?!? |
I admit that the idea crossed my mind, however, there are some cons about it.
1st point, my teeth have seen better days, and attacking young ladies with my prosthetic denture doesn´t sound very practical. 2nd point (and following the 1st), since I converted to vegeterianism, my nasty activities are reduced to having tea and scones with any little red-riding-hood crossing my forest 3rd and most important point, Loba is watching out, and I'm not volunteer to enlarge the figures of domestic violence. |
Hi All,
Thank you everyone for all of the suggestions. I took ggreen's advice and entered some of the bill into Google Translator, to see if it had anymore useful info, but it didn't really. Google Translator is quite the little program. Then I took hsv's suggestion about the International Money Transfer and e-mailed the hospital using Google Translator for the bank account info. They responded to me this morning with all of the info! Thanks lobo_mau for offering to pay my bill for me. If the hospital didn't get back to me I might have taken you up on your offer :) I should have had traveler's insurance. I had some terrible luck on that trip with the eye thing in Lisbon and earlier in the trip in Madrid, I got a horrible case of the stomach flu and was stuck in my hotel for like 4 days. I had to have a doctor come to the room and prescribe me medicine. It still wasn't very much money for the doctor visit and medication compared to US. I do feel that I should go back to Madrid considering I was in the hotel the whole time. Thanks again everyone for being so helpful!!!!! |
You are very welcome.
If, during the process, you need some translation from/to Portuguese or phone calls made, please let me know. I've heard that Portuguese might be difficult to foreigners. |
Seriously, the transfer is likely to cost you around USD 30 to USD 50 in charges, I would expect, which makes lobo's incredibly kind offer the best deal that could ever happen to you. And he may be happy for you to reimburse him on cheaper channels for you. I'd definitely contemplate to take him up on it - even wolves apparently aren't what they used to be - at least this one seems quite civilised and well groomed.

PayPal is cheap for small International Money Transfers. For example fee is 14 cents for 20 euro transfer to Portugal. Of course the recipient needs to have PayPal account linked to bank account in order for money to get deposited (otherwise it'll stay as PayPal balance).

"since I converted to vegeterianism, my nasty activities are reduced to having tea and scones with any little red-riding-hood crossing my forest"
Vegetarianism? That will be the day. |
Nikki, please don't ruin my disguise!
