Horseback riding
My sister and I are going to be in Tuscany, south of Florence in May for 4 days. We would like to find a place to take a half day or whole day trail ride. Does anyone have any suggestions for places we might go?
Thanks! |
you could try to google agriturismo, horses tuscany...
|
Lincasanova's advice is right on. There are dozens of agriturismi in Tuscany that have stables and offer horseback riding. You just have to look for them.
|
I haven't had a lot of luck with searches; all of the hotels I have found seem to require an expensive stay for trail rides, but I'll keep searching. If anyone has specific info I'd appreciate it.

www.hotel-toscana-tuscany.com, [email protected] just wrote these people and they accept daily riders. no need to sleep there. 75 euros plus 15 euros/picnic all day ride. looks like a beautiful place. |
You may want to check on the details before you plan this. Don;t know your level of experience - but I know many places in europe have only english tack - not western - and require you demonstrate some basic level of experience before they let you take a horse.

Thank you Linda for the info and NY, we are both riders and ride English, so we should be OK.

I am going to be riding myself for 3 weeks in Italy and France. Try this http://www.ilparetaio.it as well. There's also a place close to Rome, but that might to be too far for you.

For those of you who really love to ride check out www.equitours.com. Riding all over the world and some fabulous rides in Tuscany.
Buon viaggio! |
kemarshall - how did your ride go? what areas did you ride through, primarily?
|
Flygirl--the ride was a highlight of a trip of a lifetime. We rode through the Tuscan Hillside. The ride was set up by the owner of the beautiful villa we stayed in. Se my trip report for more details!
