Horse show and stables at Versailles

Has anyone gone to this? I have been Googling it and just can’t seem to come up with enough info in English.

We have been to Versailles several times, day and night, and know how crowded it can be.
We plan to take our teen GD in June who is totally into horses and thought this would be good.

I have looked at the hundreds of skip the line tickets & tours of Versailles and it is mind boggling.
We would of course like her to see Versailles but the crowds are very off putting.

You might consider instead the castle at Chantilly.

It has the historical stables, museum of the horse and I believe also horse riding demonstrations. We haven't been but have considered when we have been in France and arriving or departing to or from CDG airport and were thinking we didn't want to go into the city.

In 2003 I took my 10-yr-old granddaughter to the royal stables at Versailles. They had been open only a short time then and they were not yet doing shows, but we could watch the riders and horses practicing then tour the stables.

Now there are shows. Have you seen this information:

In October we attended one of the shows at Chantilly and found it to be superb. You should realize that not only do they have regular demonstrations of the horses doing normal dressage maneuvers, but they have really extravagant shows featuring horses. We attended quite a different one with a mythological theme, but here is a link to a short video of the current show, which takes Swan Lake as its theme. Well worth it, IMHO.

Thanks so much. I will check this all out. I wish more of the info was in English.

Our GD is an avid ride/jumper and I think this would be a highlight for her.

Google is your friend, TPYT. Copy the parts you don't understand, paste the text into Google Translate, and it will do the work for you.

BTW, I brought that link up by clicking on the the little English flag on the French webpage.

If you didn't already check it, the link posted by MaineGG from the château's own website is in English with detailed info.

I had not looked at this thread yet, but my very first impression was also "check out Chantilly instead."

I have been to the horse museum and its daily horse show (not the periodic spectaculars). I am not even interested in horses, but I was extremely impressed.

What’s with that last post???
It says adult content so I didn’t open it.

Even if only from the point of view of crowds, I would choose Chantilly over Versailles for a horse experience. Besides, you could visit the lovely château and its gallery of miniature portraits and maybe even pop over to Senlis.

Looks like Chantilly would be the way to go.
AND, we haven’t been there so it would all be new for us.

Yes, Versailles if fabulous but the crowds are not.

Glad they removed that post.
