Hoping for some help on Scandanavia Trip
I will soon be taking a trip to Denmark and Sweden. I'm looking for some information on the best way to get from Copenhagen to Stockholm. Any information on the various options and what is cheapest, nicest, etc. would be more than appreciated!

Thanks.

Driving in Scandinavia is on the whole great because of the few people living there and wonderful landscape. So it is a relaxing experience. I know renting a car is not cheap but do not know anything about trains or buses. Another option could be flying with SAS. There is a newly opened toll bridge connecting Denmark and Sweden over Oresund and this makes the trip faster by car.If not so, you should go to Malmoe ( by bus or ferry )from where communications with Stockholm are numerous and pretty good.

Peter, we are planning a spring trip also intending to travel between Denmark and Sweden. They have just started a high speed train service between Copenhagen and Stockholm which cut the normally 8 hr travel time down to,,, I believe 3. We are thinking of doing this, or taking the 8 as an overnight, but obviously have not done so, alas, no personal experience.
I would dearly love to hear about your plans, hotels etc. Plus a trip report if you are able... Bon Voyage.

Nice to know that they have just started that train service among two of the most beautiful cities in Europe!

Peter, My family is also visiting denmark, sweden and finland this summer. Since we wish to take the ferry to finland and were limited on time, we are flying to stockholm on sas. Currently, the rate is about $176pp round trip. If you have time, you might want to consider the ferry to helsinki or turku also. Enjoy your trip.

It does depend on how much time you have. We will be covering the same area in July. We fly into Copenhagen and will pick up our rental car in downtown Copenhagen on our last morning and take the ferry to Malmo. We will stop at Lund and Ystadt during the day and stay somewhere in the neighborhood of Simrishamn that night. We go on to Kalmer the next day, will tour the Castle and take the ferry to Visby (Gotland)later that afternoon. Two days in Visby and we take the ferry to Copenhagen the next morning. Not the fastest route, but each City/Town mentioned has something we want to see. We go on into Norway from here, but this is the part you asked about. Actually, your question is very timely. I have researched our route pretty thoroughly, but answers to your question will help me get verification of our route as well. Thanks and hope you have a marvelous trip.
