Honeymooners, shld we stay at Luna Baglioni, Danieli or Westin Regina?
We're not too concerned about cost (you hope to go on a honeymoon once, right?), and we really want luxurious. My fiance has asthma/allergies, so he's not really into the old hotels with old carpeting, dust, etc. I'm guessing all 3 of these hotels are amazing, but which one should I go with?

There IS only one city which has hotels of these names.

So if you have to ask then you obviously can't help.

If you have ever been to venice you will recognise it immediately.

For once, the hotel names arent ones existing exactly as they have been posted anywhere else.

Molly

We stopped in and looked at a basic (standard) double in the Luna Baglioni during our recent stay and thought it very pretty and luxurious.

We didn't stop in and look at rooms in the other hotels but I am sure they are wonderful.

We did see the locations though and personally, though Luna hasn't the views, its location makes it that little closer to more sites, yet still within easy reach of vaporetti stops, as the other two.

Hope this helps.

Kavey

Easy, easy Dont with the sarcasim. Yes, I have stayed at the Danieli as well as the Europa Regina in Venice. I was not sure if these were ONLY in Venice as they are both Starwood hotels.
Molly, in my opinion I much preferred the Europa and Regina hotel between the two. The lobby is smaller but I like the rooms and the location much better. I recall reading a posting on this board regarding a corner room with a huge balcony to sit on with a wonderful canal view (you could probably do a search and find it again and request the room #, both of these hotels have been discussed before). Anyway, you can't go wrong with either as they are both part of the Luxury Collection....I just think the Europa Regina was better. By the way, if you stay at one you have full access to the other 3 Starwood Hotels including Gritti Palace and Des Bains (private beach). You could look at the website (www.starwood.com) for photos and info. There is a free small motorized boat that goes between the 3 hotels for the guests. Have a wonderful honeymoon! I've travelled to Venice quite a few times and it will forever be one of my favorite cities. Karen

The Bauer was right next door to the Violino d'Oro, the small 3 star where we stayed. I think the location was perfect... very close to Riva della Schiavoni (spelling?) and the various vaporetti stops along it (including the San Marco one where the alilaguna waterbus from the airport comes in) and also easy walking to the Giglio stop and the Accademia bridge.

Externally a boring looking building but the lobby looked beautiful and I am sure the rooms would be.

Also the square is home to a gondolier station, the one used by Amex for group sereraded gondola tours, which means if you come back to the hotel for a rest at the right time and throw open the windows you can catch the sounds of accordion and singing.

The square also often had buskers including a superb young opera singer and, on a seperate occasion, a great accoustic guitarist.

I've stayed at the Danielli and also the Europa & Regina. Of these two, I'd chose the Europa & Regina.(both are Starwood Luxury Hotels). You refer to this as the Westin Regina so I'm sure we're talking about the same hotel since the Westins are part of the Starwood Hotels. It is a GREAT hotel and I'd highly recommend it for your honeymoon. Great central location with good views and easy to walk everywhere. Tom

Molly,
Try doing a search on the Luna Baglioni. You'll see my comments written before. The Luna was recently renovated and it IS THE OLDEST hotel in Venice. Any luxury hotel that charges these prices you need not worry about old carpeting and dust. It is a Leading Hotel of the World and you will see why if you elect to stay there.
