Honeymoon to Europe....
I will be traveling to Europe on my honeymoon this summer. We will be flying to Paris, renting a car and going to Burgundy to enjoy some vino. From there, we will be taking the train the Geneva, Venice, Florence, and finally to Rome.
I would like any neat ideas on places to stay, restaurants to try, and things to see and do.
I am interested in places and things that people of gone and done in these places that really stand out in their mind...
I look forward to the responces.....Thank You!

You don't say how much time you have - or what your budget is.
For that trip you would need 3 to 4 weeks to really see anything.
As for hotels/restaurants I'm sure everyone would like to help but since this is a honeymoom - is this a splurge - $500 per night - or a strict budget - $100 per night - or a mix or somewhere in between?
Have been to all those places - some many times -- but really can;t help you much til you give us more info.

We will be leaving on July 19 and returning on June 3. I know this is a full itinerary however, we are not ones to go at a slow pace.
We don't mind spending $300.00 or so a night on hotel however, if we can find nice places for less...all the better! On the flip side of the coin, if there is an unbelievable place we just "have" to stay then, we could go over that budget.
I have been to France about seven years ago and ejoyed the country side rather than the big cities. I am from a big city and don't look to go to one for a vacation.
I wanted some ideas of places and things that really stood out in people's minds as "unforgettable,"in Paris, Burgundy, Geneva, Venice, Florence, and Rome....Rome is the place we will fly home from and the pizza is what I look forward to there!
Any ideas?

Uhhh...you're going for almost a year? Assuming that's not the case, it might help if you get your dates right.
Sounds to me like you need to get your times straight, do some research on your own, find out what you really want to see (big cities or not), and then ask specific questions, preferably just once rather than multiple times on the same day.

Supposed that this is a two-weeks-trip (e.g. July 19th to August 3rd???), you should first of all make an entirely new plan for it - two weeks are simply not enough for what you're planning to see. For Rome alone, two weeks would be the minimum - the most fascinating city in the whole world, with such an enormous wealth of sights... and what a pity to eat PIZZA in Rome, where you can find plenty of splendid restaurants serving really good food...
But of course, Rome IS a big city, noisy, vibrant.
So maybe what you're looking for is to be found in Burgundy - and in Venice. What about reducing your trip to these two destinations, one week each?
In Burgundy, my favourite area is the south: the Maconnais. People have a unique taste there in restoring their historic sandstone buildings - inside, everything is comfort and modernity, but from outside, you'd never guess that you are in the 21st century. Amazing! Car needed! Best restaurants: the "Fleurvil" in Fleurville (one of the few ugly villages in the area, but what a cuisine!) and above all, "Aux Terrasses" in Tournus.
Second, I'd propose Venice, certainly the most romantic destination for a honeymoon (and, suze: it's NOT a big city - merely 60.000 inhabitants!). My favourite accomodation is the Rosa di Venezia apartment: www.rosadivenezia.com, a very special place (and ideal for honeymooners), and the owners provide their choice of Venice restaurants, too. One week in Venice is enough to give a rough impression of that marvellous and unique town (though you might well stay for two months, and visit new wonders every day).

Hi M,

>Paris, ....Geneva, Venice, Florence, and finally to Rome.
That does not compute.

Mer, you have posted three times already, same plans, you have gotten about 10-12 responses advising you against this lunacy itinerary you are calling honeymmon plans. What exactly do you want to hear?; obviously, not good common sense advice, so get yourself a guidebook and a map. Best of luck in all your plans.

Okay...Revision to the plan-How about Paris to Burgundy then, Venice to Rome about a week in France and a week in Italy.
We have confirmed reservations at the Marriott Hotel Champs Elysees in Paris and Chateau Andre Ziltener in Burgundy. Has anyone been to either of these? Comments?
Now we need Places to stay in Venice and Rome...Suggestions? Like I've said, 300.00 per night is fine.
Also, would love some good restaurants to try...any suggestions here?
Thank You!!!!!
