Honeymoon passport delimma

I know restrictions are being tightened and don't quite know the best way to handle the technicalities of a European honeymoon. How do you handle the name change on a passport for the honeymoon? Do you just go with the old name for the time being and change it all when you get back? Do you take your old passport and a marriage certificate?

What is important is that everything matches: the name on the ticket, the name on the passport, and the name on the 2nd form of ID (e.g., driver's license) that you should bring just in case something were to happen to the passport.

Be sure to also pack a photocopy of the identification pages of the passport.
Congratulations.

I would leave everything in your maiden name assuming you are leaving within a day or two of your wedding. Legally speaking, at least in Illinois, your must notify the state of your wedding (by filing your marriage certificate) prior to your name change becoming official so your name wouldn't techinically be changed yet anyway. Elaine is absolutely right though, make sure your tickets and passport are all in the same name.

Generally when you use a passport there is not need for any sort of "second ID" at least not to check in with the airline. If you wish to take a "second ID" for other purposes then I would agree it should match the passport..but I'm not sure what those purposes might be in Europe especially.

I went through this with my daughter...leave everything in your maiden name and take care of name changes when you return.
