Honeymoon Need Suggestions

I am planning my honeymoon for April 2003. This is what I am thinking:
4 days Amalfi
5 days Tuscany
2 days Florence

I think I want to stay at Hotel Santa Caterina in Amalfi. Has anyone been and can recommend a room for me? Deluxe room or suite? Main Hotel or villa?

Also, I was thinking Siena for my Tuscany stay? Any suggestions for hotels or other areas?

thanks!

Are you driving in Tuscany? What is your budget range? Lots of variables.

BOB from Amelia Island

go to parkercompany.com
They have wonderful villas in all sizes and prices ranges in every part of Italy. They have a free 300+ page catalog. A must for any traveler going to Italy.

We would like to keep the rooms in Tuscany to about 200 a night. We don't want to drive. Thinking about hiring a driver a couple of days in Tuscany.

Dear CLCFlorida:

I stayed at the Santa Caterina in September, it is a beautiful spot and the staff are incredible.

As for room types, there are three honeymoon suites, including the Romeo & Juliet villa, I don't know if any of these were offered to you. We stayed in a Junior Suite in the Villa Santa Caterina, which is located in a lemon grove just before you get to the Romeo and Juliet villa. The room had a balcony covered in Bougainvillea with an incredible view. The only drawback to the room is that the bedroom did not have a sea view. As I was with my sister, that didn't really bother us.

I think some of the rooms in the main hotel might get road noise as well as noise from the restaurant. Check the hotel's website which describes the room types. You can then get a better idea of what room type and location would be best for you.

I am not sure what part of April you will be there. Many of the better restaurants in the area are closed through April, check the rants and raves section of this board to see listings of restaurants and their opening dates. You may need to bear this in mind when planning your itinerary. Then again, if you go before April 15, it is not the high season, so you will get better room rates at the hotel.

There are a zillion messages on this board regarding things to do and see on the Amalfi coast, so I won't go into it; just have a great time!
