Honeymoon in Spain?
Hi!
I am getting married Sept. 25 and we are looking for a relaxing, beautiful, hurricane free place to go for about a week. Is Spain a good place to go? and if so where? We don't really want to do traveling around once we get there so we are looking for one place that has it all. |
Spain should be very nice in September. We were in Andalucia last September and had perfect weather the whole time we were there. You might look on the Fodor's "Destinations" guides for Eastern and Western Andalucia. I assume you want a beach place and, other than Nerja, which we liked a lot, we were mostly inland.

Spain is a beautiful country, but it depends what you are looking for... if it's good food, quaint surroundings, a charming relaxing city atmosphere you're looking for, I recommend Sevilla. You can spend hours getting lost in the maze of streets, there's some interesting historical sites, and it's a short high-speed train trip to Madrid for a change of pace. Also a short train ride away is Cordoba, which is a beautiful city. And within easy driving distance are the "white towns" and beautiful countryside.
If it's beaches you're looking for, the southern "Costa del Sol" is great for relaxing... also, Tarifa, on the southwest edge of the country, has some beautiful beaches and a day trip to Gibraltar would be interesting. The eastern (Mediterranean) coast is also beautiful... If you want really cool beach scenery, I suggest the southern coast of Portugal, also. Hope this helps! |
You might also want to consider Barcelona and the Costa Brava. I found both to be quite romantic, but for different reasons.

Spain is a great place to go, especially in the eary fall. Peak Tourist season ends around 15 September but the weather continues beautiful for at least another month.
As for "one place that has it all" you'll have to be more specific: Does that mean nightlife or beaches or Museums & Monuments? |
I would agree with the above posts. If you want to be in a charming beach town, Nerja is hard to beat. It has been spared some of the garish concrete highrises that are found in the towns further to the west. There are great hiking trails thru the mountains, and it's a short ride to the city of Grenada and the Alhambra palace complex. If you want more of a city spot, Seville is a very beautiful, relaxing city. If you want to be in a mountainous area, the town of Ronda is a good place to explore from. Go to the rusticblue.com site for some ideas.
