Honeymoon in Positano & Taormina
We are planning a late May honeymoon and are looking for moderately priced and romantic hotels in both Positano and Taormina. Any suggestions?

In Taormina, try the Hotel Villa Belvedere or the Hotel Villa Schuler.

First--good choices for a honeymoon.
Next, go to www.slowtrav.com and find my trip report from spring 2000.
I love the Casa Albertina in Positano. The Belvedere in Taormina is a great location but not the best rooms. Look also at Villa Schuler. Good luck !

In 1997 we stayed in Hotel L'Ancora. It was all I had hoped for - tile floors, fabulous view (even from the bathroom), great breakfasts on a lovely, viewfilled patio and moderately priced. Have a wonderful honeymoon.

I can't offer a specific hotel in Taromina, but it is a beautiful place to visit. We stayed "down the mountain" in Castiania. Have a great trip.

San Domenico Palace in Taormina hands down!

Spent a week last June in Positano at the Hotel California. Get a room with a balcony over looking the water and you will love it. It is moderately priced, great location and they have a web site. If you want to be pampered there are plenty of the high end places to stay. No need to have a car at Positano, everthing is reachable with public transportation (buses, boats, and trains out of Sorrento).

If you are using public transportation and want a little adventure, consider taking the hydofoil from Naples to the small islands of Stromboli, Lipari, etc, enroute to Sicily. The volcano on Stromboli just blew but you don't have to stay. Taormina has lots of places to stay but I recommend staying up around the central town area. Otherwise, you have a bus or gondola ride to get to the top. Consider a day tour of Mt Etna. It too just blew but if the tour buses are running it is a neat trip to see all of the lava flows and craters. Neat place, enjoy.
