Honeymoon in Italy
Planning a honeymoon in italy for August. Have been advised by all of hte travel books to avoid Italy in August? Does anyone have insight? Obviously I cannot change my wedding date and had my heart set on Lake Como and the Italian Riveria.

August can be a beautiful time in Italy. We were there this past August, and the weather was beautiful! Mostly in the 70's! And that was in Sicily where the temperatures can reach into the 100's in August. It all depends on the weather that year! I think people say to avoid August because it can get too hot and uncomfortable, but you never know.

August in Italy three comfortable places to be beach, lake or mountains. What kind of a vacation do you want?I suppose that the classic honeymoon is relaxing on the beach,by the lake etc. Another opition<BR>but slightly more athletic the mountains,Valle D' Aosta one of the smallest areas of Italy not far from mt.Blanc. Nice town to stay in Cogne. Many Italians will be there as would be high season(for hiking) but would have beautiful flowers and pleanty of wildlife. If you want a less crowded lake I would suggest lake orta, town is Orta San Gulio it is within piedmont north west of milan.

Ugh! I am so tired of people scaring others away. We honeymooned on the Amalfi Coast this August and it was heavenly. (Also went to Paris, another place that people around here will tell you to avoid in August.) Would do it again in a heartbeat. Sure, if you had a choice, I hear it's less crowded other months, but do NOT be cowed into not going! We never once said, "God this would be great if it was less crowded." In fact, I never even noticed it being crowded because I had nothing to compare it to....
