Honeymoon in Italy - 10 Days in July

We are going on our honeymoon for 10 days flying into Venice and out of Naples, flight is booked. Initially I wanted to do 2 nights in Venice ->train to Florence, spend the day take evening train to Rome. 3 nights there. Rent a car and drive through naples down to the Amalfi coast for 4 nights.

Any thoughts or recommendations are greatly appreciated!

I would suggest three nights in Venice, two or three in Florence, at least three in Rome, then perhaps drive or train down and and rent a car to see the Amalfi coast. If you get to Naples you can see Pompei or Capri. Travel between Venice, Florence and Rome is pretty quick and the train stations conveniently located in my opinion.
Venice is the most beautiful and romantic city in the world and I live near San Francisco.

Venice is great! May I suggest the Hotel Flora, made our entire stay and is in a perfect location , not to mention reasonable and has the most amazing courtyard where you can sit have your cappuccino or afternoon wine, a total gem, check their website even has video footage. Also....if you are going to the a amalfi coast, absolutely stay in Positano , hotel Murat beautiful and centrally located, if not in your budget, hotel California which is where they filmed under the Tuscan sun sure to be a hit. Book ahead to avoid disappointment. Check out the San peitro hotel for drinks and their amazing patio which has 360 degree views. while in positano Be sure to go to beach around the other side of beach walkway, much nicer and friendly restaurants too. Have a very lovely honeymoon!

With only 10 days I would not try 4 destinations--pick 3 and have fun.

Thanks all. @lloera I def want to stay in positano, I will check out your hotel suggestions, thanks.

I hate having to skip Florence, but my fiance and I want to have some beach time and not just straight sightseeing.

Just be aware that most of the Amalfi Coast beaches are not the lovely white sand beaches you may be dreaming of - they're mostly pebbly, or at best, coarse gray sand which looks and feels, well, dirty (IMHO).

Yes, the beaches are a coarse sand....however, the water more than makes up for it, plus you have chaise lounges lined up to rent so all good. Forgot to mention another great hotel which has a pool if thats important to you and very centrally located, "covo de saracini". Murat is older and has beautiful views and really has that old world feel, very charming.... Have stayed at both and both are excellent. I agree with bobthenavigator....pick three destinations and promise each other you'll go back.....you can totally use the extra day in Rome or Positano.

Hi there - I definitely recommend Florence, and you'll need at least 3 days there. It's a great city for honeymoons, very romantic. Some ideas at http://ourhoneymoonregistry.co/destination/florence

With 10 days, four of which you want to spend in Positano, choose 2 other stops. It would be a shame to miss Florence but if you want to visit Rome and Venice, do that. You are left with only abot 2.5 days for each but you'll be back!
