Venice is defintely THE romantic city.
Can't get wrong to go there on honeymoon.

I recommend hotel Flora very close to San Marco plazza.

Been there several times, with family and alone with my wife (made me feel much younger !).

If it was me I'd add maybe one more day to London but that is just nit picking. 3.5 London and 6.5 Venice would perfectly wonderful.

That would give you enough time for one or two day trips (or not if you decide to remain in Venice the whole time)

>>I keep having people rave about cinque terre (sp?) When I tell them we are going to Italy and it is making me second guess everything.<<

The CT is lovely -- but that would fracture your time a LOT and Venice is probably the most romantic city on earth. Leave the CT and the rest of Italy for another trip - maybe a special anniversary down the road.

I think you have an excellent plan. Don't let anyone talk you out of it!

Everyone has their own favorite places and sometimes in their enthusiasm, they will say "you can't go to Italy without going to my favorite place!" But of course you can, and choosing fewer places means more time to enjoy the places you have chosen.

Have a wonderful honeymoon!

Thank you all! You have restored my confidence in our plan. We could potentially add one more day to London or plan out a day trip from Venice but other than that I think we are set! I am excited to finally be at this point. We have gone back and forth a lot with our plan and it's good to finally be able to start looking into plane tickets, lodging and smaller details versus the big picture "where are we going?!". Now that it's been a month since the wedding I'm finding myself excited to start planning something again. My type A self revels in all the maps, lists and reviews.

So thank you guys for steering us towards Venice! I've been looking at airbnb and homeaway and seeing some very swoon worthy apartments overlooking the canals. I can't wait!

Ah, malifornia, welcome to trip-planning. You may find it addicting -- like I did.

If you think the time in Venice may be just a bit too long, add a day to London and take a daytrip, Bath or Windsor Castle or Stonhenge or Blenheim Castle or Brighton or Stratford-on-Avon or . . .
