Honeymoon in Croatia
 

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum but it looks like a great pleace!
My financee and I are spending our honeymoon in Croatia. We arrive in Dubrovnik on the evening of August 10th and we are staying in The Dubrovnik Palace Hotel for 5 nights. We then move on to Hvar for 4 nights, Trogir for 3 nights before flying back to Dubrovnik for 1 night's stay before going home.

Obviously as it's our honeymoon we would love for the trip to be as special as possible ( which I have no doubt it will ) and we have done a good bit of research into the country. However, I was wondering if anyone had firsthand experience of the places we are visiting and might share some tips like things to do, places to see, restaurants to eat in etc in order to make it a once in a lifetime trip.

You will love Croatia and you have a great, well-paced itinerary planned!

Here's some ideas for Dubrovnik:

Activities: walk the walls around the Old Town, spend a day at the city beach

Day trips: boat trip to islands of Lopud & Lokrum, Mostar (Bosnia) and Kotor (Montenegro), town of Cavtat

Restaurants: Lokanda Peskarija (Old Town Port) for amazing seafood, Buza Bar (along walls – look for sign that says “cold drinks”) for a drink and to watch the sunset, Proto (corner of Soroka & Vara in Old Town), and Sesame Taverna (west of Pile Gate, past the Hilton)

In Hvar we were a bit more mellow, just rented a boat for a day and trolled to nearby islands and beaches.

In Trogir go to Top Balloon for some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life!

In Hvar - go to Gariful and Lucullus or, by boat, to Zori or Dionis on Pakleni Islands.

If your budget allows, rent a speed boat to Vis island! Spectacular!

You will love Croatia, and hotel Palace in Dubrovnik is superb. Spend one day on the beach and recuperate. Than take a walk aroud town, you will love walk around the walls of Old Town, take a boat trip to to Lopud and Lokrum.
Take half a day and visit Cavtat(a small town where a city aeroport is), and than go to visit Mali Ston, a place to eat best black sea food risotto you ever tried

You will love, small charming town Hvar. Walk around main piazza, visit the main church, go to the Fortica walls. Visit town called Stari Grad, go to the Hektorovicev monument

Next day take a boat trip to Palmizana, loved the beach there. Have lunch at Dagmar Menaghello rastaurant, and look at the art collection at her mansion

Next day try to visit Islan Vis, small fishing village Komiza, loved it there..Have lunch or dinner at Bako or Jastozera.
In Trogir we stayed at charming hotel Tragos situated in the old town. Loved the atmosphere, everyone was soo nice.

Go to the town called Split, visit the Diocletian palace, and the old town.

For Komiza, if you decide, go to Bako - much better food. Also, if you rent a boat, make sure you visit the Blue Grotto cave on Bisevo Island near Vis!

Proto, not value for money compared with other good locals IMO.

If you can somehow work it into your itinerary, try to go to Plitvice National Park. We didn't make it there on our first trip and, realizing that we had missed out on something incredibly special and unique, we felt pressed to find a way back pretty quickly. It was well worth the return visit (of course, almost everything in Croatia is worth the trip). It is incredibly magical and there really is no other place like it on Earth.
