Honeymoon in Barcelona May 3-14th
My fiance and I are honeymooning in Barcelona May 2nd (arriving May 3rd) to May 14th. We are looking for suggestions on hotels, restaurants and other towns/cities to drive to and stay for a few nights.
A little about us... We are late 20's and early 30's. We love to hang out in cafes (drink wine, eat good food, meet new people etc) Are self proclaimed "foodies" and are very easy going. We imagine ourselves walking down to the beach, shopping, eating at cute cafes on the street or beach, site seeing (I'm really looking forward to seeing the Art and Beauty of the city), strolling through the city, visiting wineries, maybe a few late nights out and really just enjoying our time alone together. We are not very big on itineraries or schedules but would like some suggestions on MUST SEE or DO ideas. (**Note: We aren't opposed to spending a couple days with planned itineraries, but would rather not spend our days rushing around**) We will be flying round trip from NYC to Barcelona (non-stop). Arriving at BCN around 9am on Tuesday May 3rd and returning home Saturday May 14th. Where is the best part of the city to stay? Any suggestions on hotels, 3-4 Star range? We would like something more trendy and boutique style. We are also interested in seeing more of Spain and would love to rent a car or jump on a plane (Ryan Air or Vueling) and spend time in another city. Preferably somewhere on the coast. Thanks for your help!!! :) |
I would suggest El Born district.
Barcelona is very walkable... Cannot recommend a hotel ( stayed in apts) Must see: Gaudi designed buildings . San Sebastian has great food and beaches. You can fly Vueling to Bilbao and take the bus from there. Or drive, stopping on the way. |
Click on my screen name and send me an e-mail, and I'll send you my list of things to do in Barcelona. Please be aware that it's not a guide book, there are lots of those, but a list of what I believe are the must sees in the city.

So funny...I just posted something very similar! My husband and I have been married a year and are looking to do Barcelona and either the Balearic Islands or San Sebastian. We travel like you...we love wine, good food, etc (we did the Amalfi Coast for our honeymoon)...and don't want to have a stringent plan (we have crazy jobs, and need to relax too)! It would be fun to do Mallorca/Ibiza and be on the beach, but San Sebastian and the wine country could be great too. I am curious as to what you decide to do. I found this place in Mallorca. You may be interested?

I am in Barcelona right now. Two of us have rented an apartment that might suit you very well, as it is very stylish and contemporary and located in what is probably the most central location in the city and certainly where you want to be if you are interested in food, as you can walk to virtually any area from Poble Sec to Born to Gracia, etc etc.....
Here is the website; the apartment is Ghost: http://www.destinationbcn.com/ghost.htm |
