honeymoon in Barcelona 10/2010
Hi everyone...few questions and i'm hoping y'all might be able to offer some insight.
My fiance and I are planning on going to Spain for our honeymoon (Barcelona in particular...for convenience) and need some suggestions as to where to stay, what to see, etc. Our plan: (October 2010) Fly into Barcelona on Friday or Saturday (10/8 or 10/9) STAY ONE OR TWO NIGHTS IN BARCELONA BEFORE CRUISE Take a Royal Caribbean cruise out of Barcelona on Sunday 10/10 ~~Departs Barcelona at 7pm on 10/10; Naples, Capri, Italy; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy; Villefranche (Nice), France; Provence (Toulon), France; and back to Barcelona on Sunday morning 10/17 STAY IN BARCELONA 10/17 through Friday 10/22 in a nice hotel Fly back to Los Angeles on 10/22 I am trying to figure out an affordable place for the 1-2 nighte PRIOR to the cruise, doesn't have to be anything romantic or the like...just something easy to get to from the airport and to the cruise ship on Sunday eve. I am also trying to find a nicer hotel for our five night stay (10/17-22)...some place more "honeymoon" appropriate :) and some place that's got a lot to walk to, etc. so we aren't bored in the city! Looking to spend $200-325 per night for the 5-night stay so that we still have funds to go eat, sightsee, etc. Any MUST SEES in the city or nearby that we shouldn't miss? We like adventure, museums and the like...but also want it to be romantic, relaxing, etc. Any help would be FABULOUS!! Thanks! |
There are lots of Barcelona hotel recommendations here if you do a search. For example:
http://www.fodors.com/search/results...arcelona+hotel and http://www.fodors.com/search/results...rcelona+hotels As for must-sees, I suggest you start with a guidebook (go to a bookstore to flip through various guidebooks by different companies), or here: http://www.fodors.com/world/europe/spain/barcelona/ and Maribel's Guides: http://maribelsguides.com/mg_guides.html#barcelona And, congratulations on your upcoming marriage. |
Thanks! I'll definitely grab a book...I was supposed to go to Italy so i'm loaded on lit for there. lol Spain...eh...need some debriefing.
Was just hoping for some personal experience suggestions on top of the literature! |
Many good hotels on trip advisor reviews. We thoroughly enjoyed Regencia Colon in Bari Gotic for an inexpensive hotel in an unbeatable location. It's sister hotel next door is the
Colon and is more upscale. I know there are better hotels and many locals here will gvie you good advice, but that's my first hand experience. La Boqueria is a must see for me as well as Picasso museum and Roman museum. Nothing better than Maribels guides. |
For "personal experience suggestions", one great way to find lots of it is to go through MANY, MANY Barcelona trip reports that have been posted here:

For your five night stay, why not one of the suites at Banys Orientals right in the heart of Barrio Gótico and close to "everything". Not as expensive as you indicated but it was on both the Condé Nast Traveller list of "50 most recommended hotels in the world" in 2003 and the "10 most recommended hotels in the Mediterranean" list of 2004: http://www.hotelbanysorientals.com/en/index.html
