Honeymoon
My fiance and I are in the early stages of planning our honeymoon...any good ideas? We're thinking Europe.
Thanks! |
Pack plenty of duct tape.

Any good ideas about what?
|
Hi honeymooner,
What time of year will you be on your honeymoon (i.e., winter, summer, etc.) What is your budget. $5,000, $10,000, ? How many days will you have for the trip? Have either of you ever traveled outside the country before? |
New Europe or old Europe?
|
In addition to TexasAggie's questions, please let us know what kinds of things you like to do. Do you prefer mountains? Coastal? Cities? Countryside? Do you like history, art... We need a more input before we can give recommendations.
Congrats on your wedding, by the way! Tracy |
The spectacular Greek island of Santorini is a wonderful honeymoon destination, especially the most romantic village of Oia.

Hi H,
>...any good ideas? < Yes, but they would be censored. :) I fear that you are under the misapprehension that this is a travel agency. It is not. We shall be happy to help you improve your itinerary once you have one. ((I)) |
Thanks to everyone who wrote in...other than ira, I'm under no illusions this is a travel agent. Really I'm wondering if anyone has done the Europe thing for their honeymoon or if people felt there were more romantic places to go? We like lots of things, history, beaches, art, etc. That is why we were thinking Europe would be good.

Also, we will have 10 days or so for our trip, not sure about the budget...probably in the neighborhood of $7,000. We are going in mid June.

We honeymooned in Italy in mid-June 2004 for 12 days and it was magical. We spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $7,000 and traveled very luxuriously for our tastes.
We spent our first few days in Rome, then traveled to Florence, then to the Cinque Terre, and then to Venice. It was honestly too much moving around for such a short trip and a honeymoon to boot. In retrospect I would recommend no more than 3 destinations for a 12 day trip, not more than 2 for a 10 day trip. So if you were to choose Italy as your honeymoon one option would be something like this: 4 days in Venice (with one daytrip to Verona or Vicenza or both) and 6 days in Tuscany (base somewhere and take day trips to the hilltowns, Florence, Pisa etc.). You could also consider Rome (I LOVE Rome but it overwhelms many first timers with its grittiness), the Amalfi Coast, Capri, the Lakes region... as you're probably beginning to see, Italy has a multitude of romantic destinations :-) |
P.S. Type "honeymoon" into the Search box and there should be several threads relating to different itineraries for honeymoons in Italy, France, etc.
