Holocaust Museum in Paris?
Can anyone tell me where the Holocaust Museum is in Paris? Apparently it reopened in Jan 05 with a "wall of names" somewhere in the Marais.
|
Memorial to the Unknown Jewish Martyr, located on rue Geoffroy Lasnier.
|
Bob, if you take the metro, go to the Hotel de Ville Stop.

Googling "Holocaust museum paris" gives this site:
http://www.memorialdelashoah.org/ and this site lists all holcaust museums world wide: http://www.science.co.il/Holocaust-Museums.asp |
P.S. The street starts from the Quai de L'hotel de Ville and ends at the Francis Miron(that changes into St Antoine) So I think metro stop St Paul would be closer.
|
...or metro stop Pont Marie

I haven't been to Paris yet, but I am planning to visit the
Mémorial des Martyrs de la Déportation Square de l'Ile de France Paris (France), France 75004 A friend told me about it, and in the guide books it looks like it's right next to Notre Dame. Perhaps, though, this is not the holocaust museum you are talking about. |
No, that is different from the Holocaust.

Dina...the deportees museum is just below the little bridge connecting Ile d' Cite and Ile St. Louis....you walk down a flight of stairs and it is a stark but moving presentation.
|
dina4, the Mémorial des Martyrs de la Déportation is at the far east end of the Ile de la Cité. You enter through the park (Square de l'Ile de France) and descend a flight of stairs. The entrance to the Mémorial is on the lower level. This memorial is to all deportees.
The Mémorial de la Shoah is at the Musée et Centre de la Documentation Juive Contemporaine, 17 rue Geoffroy l’Asnier in the 4th arrondissement, the Marais. The Wall of Names there lists the names of 76,000 Jews deported from France, among them 11,000 children. |
