Holland from the UK

Can someone tell me which is the easiest (and cheapest - if there is such a thing in Europe) to get to Holland from London. I did the chunnel several years ago and would prefer to stay above ground this time. Thx.

Lots of people fly. Easyjet or others probably have a cheap flight.

If you want to take a ferry, try Stena Lines from Harwich to Hoek van Holland. I have never taken Stena Lines but nobody else responded to your question. They may have a website.

I think there is also a ferry from Newcastle but I don't know for certain.

In reverse, I took Easyjet and it was very cheap.
Just check the website and you'll see.

easyJet is certainly cheap, but it flies from Luton, a bit of a hike from central London, if indeed that is where you will begin your journey. Some flights do go from Gatwick, which is a lot easier to get to from London.
Try also British Airways. Unlike easyJet, it is full-frills operation, one which has considerably reduced its prices to ward off no-frills competition. www.ba.com or www.flybm.com for British Midland.
PS - Why shouldn't Europe be cheap? We have very healthy competition over here in many markets, especially travel.

Hi Nigel,

When one has to buy Euros or British pounds ($2.50CAN to one pound) with the measly Canadian dollar - it makes everything seem quite expensive out of the country. However, travel in Canada is a real bargain for those from the States or overseas!

They have a boat train that leaves London at 0850 hrs to Harwich, ferry to Hoek of Holland, then train to Amsterdam that arrives about 1730 hrs for about 50 UK pounds round trip for an apex type fare. Go to Stena lines web site for info.

Leefly

Thanks everyone - I got a great price on British Midland from Heathrow to Amsterdam. Your input very much appreciated. ...Hilda
