Holiday Inn Express Porte D'Italie Followup
I goofed. I chose a hotel in the Paris suburbs. It turns out that hotel was very satisfactory: free full breakfast- meat, eggs, and all; many good local family type restaurants (eating no problem); good bus and subway connections, WC had relatively new and functional fixtures, comfortable beds, quiet, good TV (weather reports), staff was always courteous helpful and able to communicate in English. The only downside was the block-long walk uphill to the transport (bus 3 block to bus line 47) or 5 blocks to Metro line 7. We enjoyed riding the buses more than the Metro - more to see more to talk to.
Heartfelt Thanks to posters Robespierre and Christina for good, accurate info

hey, glad it turned out okay and was a comfortable enough hotel. Good of you to post in case others ask about this hotel (which they probably will).
I guess the walking was good exercise and could have been worse.

The Hotel itself is quite adequate. Rooms are small but nice. Many tour buses stop here with lots of teenagers (parking)- the restaurant gets crowded after 9 AM. It is outside the southern city limits and thus is quite a slog to CDG airport. The bus is one stop to Cite'- getting on/off at Porte D'Italie is much nicer than on/off atKremlin Bicetre We did not have a chance to try the recommended restaurants since we had so many good local choices. This is a good hotel
