HMS VICTORY
IS THE HMS VICTORY IN PORTSMOUTH WORTH VISITING? EASY TO GET THERE FROM LONDON? <BR> <BR>THANKS, <BR>PAIGE

IMHO yes it is. Enjoyed it very much as well as the D-Day museum. Be sure to get off the train at the harbour station and not the downtown Portsmouth station like we did!

I think it is well worth a visit, along with hte Mary Rose and HMS Warrior. I'm not especially interested in ships but found them all fascinating. Websites which may help: <BR> <BR>http://www.flagship.org.uk/welcome.html <BR>http://www.stvincent.ac.uk/WfS/Touri...ips/index.html <BR> <BR>There is also submarine world at Gosport where you can go inside a real submarine, and Charles Dickens birthplace and Portchester Castle, all in the area.

I have been to see it 4 times. That is my favorite destination for a daytrip from London. So in my opinion, a visit is well worth it, along with the other ships there. As mentioned before, take the train(about 1 1/2hr) & get off at the proper station, & it is a very short walk to the base. Purchase tickets as you enter, & you will get a time ticket for a tour of the Victory. Also a boat trip around the harbor is enjoyable.

<BR> <BR>If you are at all interested in History, it will be worth the trip. To stand on the very spot on the deck where Adm. Nelson was shot and to walk thru the ship, thinking about what life on board must have been like for me was something I would not want to miss. <BR> <BR>As above, there are many other historical sites in Portsmith that will tickle your interest in history. <BR> <BR>Easy to get there from Victoria Station or from Gatwick. <BR> <BR>Enjoy . .
