Hitting the highlights in Budapest
I'm jealous of those who have posted reports of long stays in Budapest. Our group of 6 (ages 50s and 60s) have only 2 days there. We would appreciate your thoughts on 2 or 3 "must see" locations. The rest we'll just have to read about in the forum posts. Sigh.

You need to schedule more time in your locales - you said the same thing for Prague.

Here were my favorites:
In Buda: Matthias Church View from Fishermen's Bastion Walking around the old Castle District Ruszwurm Cukrászda (tiny bakery with delicious pastries) In Pest: Heroes' Square The Museum of Fine Arts St. Stephen's Basilica and the view from the Tower Dohány Synagogue Cafe Gerbaud (grand cafe with delicious pastries) I also did a dinner cruise up and down the Danube which was very nice. All the buildings along the river are illuminated, as well as the castle and bridges. |
I agree with you, BigRuss, but this trip is a Danube river cruise, and our time in Prague and in Budapest is prescribed by the tour agenda. Extending our time in either city would negate the reasonable price we're paying for the tour package.
Thanks, Percy and Delaine, for your suggestions. |
Dont miss the great spas in Budapest! We loved our afternoon at Széchenyi Baths.
