Hiltons in Dublin
Hi y'all,
We're just starting the planning for a trip to Ireland in late March. I have oodles of Hilton points that I'm considering using to defer costs. Can you please give me feedback on the location and accomodations at these properties: Hilton Dublin Kilmainham Inchicore Road, Kilmainham Hilton Dublin Charlemont Place or Conrad Dublin Earlsfort Terrace It looks like the Conrad might be the best location? We're two in our mid 30s, we love indie B&Bs, pubs, etc. Just try to save some cash with the free rooms. Thanks! |
Hi -
I'd recommend either Hilton Dublin, Charlemont Place, or Conrad Dublin, Earlsfort Terrace - both good locations. Hiltons are like the rest of the big chain hotels, once you've been in one, they're pretty much all the same. Hope this helps you out. |
The conrad is the nicest and the one on Charlemont place I think is more a cheap and cheeful hotel. The conrad is a nice location near the park and grafton street. Lovely inside too.

The Hilton Kilmainham is a new hotel - about 15 to 20 mins from the city by bus or taxi. I recently visited it. It is in a very historic area of Dublin- opposite Kilmainham Jail and also Royal Hospital Kilmainham. The views from the room look out to mountains etc and overlook surrounding buildings. It might be an interestin option if you want to stay a bit outside the city centre.

Dublin Hilton is a Holiday Inn in disguise...Stayed once and never again.
I'm A HHonors Diamond and they did not offer any perks. I remember I was told that I was "upgraded", but if that's the case I can't imagine what a regular room would look like. It was clean, but very basic, small room with a HI type bathroom. OTOH, The Hilton Conrad became my favorite place to stay in Dublin. 2 shortcomings, no executive lounge and the staff at the looby area bar should be retrained. VERY slow at times. I stayed there 3 times so far, all awards and each and every time I was upgraded to mini-suite. Huge room with an alcove. Nice sized bathroom. Bottle of wine delivered upon check in along with some chocolates. Fruits delivered everyday of the stay. Free continental breakfast. Great location. |
I forgot to mention the Conrad Teddy Bear on the pillow :-) |
And the Conrad? Is it centrally located enough to be walkable to major things?
Thanks for the advice! |
