Hilton Rome Airport

After exhaustive research my best option for early departure from Rome is the Hilton at the airport. Now I'm trying to get the rate
lower then the $178.00 advanded payment on the Hilton website. Any ideas of club discounts,or web sites to explore? Thanks

I have recently tried to bring the price down, but I have not had any success anywhere. I tried to cash in Hilton Honors points, but they cannot be used at that location. Good luck. I will be watching to see if anyone can help either of us.

With nothing to lose, I would call Hilton directly and tell them that you would like very much to stay at this property and would they have any lower rate that may be applicable. AAA, AARP, maybe?
I did stay there once and it was sooo nice to just walk over to the airport.

Also, they used to have a shuttle bus to take you into Rome if you would arrive the day before your flight early enough to make use of it.

There are many posts here about nearby properties that may be less expensive that have shuttles to the airport.

Good luck.

We stayed there on Jan 5, 2005. Our flight was cancelled because of “Weather” in NYC (at least that was their story). Our rate was 139 Euros. I was sick as a dog with bronchitis, didn’t want to schlep back and forth to Rome, was happy to be in the airport thd next day to catch the early flight (weather permitting). The hotel was very pleasant and enjoyed not hearing scooters buzz my hotel all night.

While $178 may sound like a lot there are some benefits to be had.

Transferring to/fro downtown is time consuming, tiring (especially after a transatlantic flight) and expensive. The taxi cost me 55 euros (incl. airport fee, charge for bags, and a few Euro s for tip), the train will get you to the Termini for 9.5 euros per person and you'll have to pay 9 euros for a taxi to go a downtown hotel or you’ll have to find/purchase a bus ticket and take a bus to you’re hotel unless it happens to be near the Termini.

The hot breakfast at the Hilton certainly adds value. Much better and varied than anything else I've ever had in Europe. I tend to stay at smaller hotels that are located in the historic locations. But this stay might change my stategy.

Make sure you eat in town. Don't even think about eating in the Hilton restaurant (19 Euros+ for a Hilton Burger!) or even look at the min-bar unless. For laughs, look at the prices in the bar and room service. In a pinch you can get some grub at the food court of the airport.

And whatever you do, don't even think about what the euro equivalent is in US dollars… It will ruin your trip.

Yes, when I spend my last nights at the Hilton I walk over to the food court for a light dinner and then go through the airport shops at my leisure before turning in for my early morning flights.

Thanks for your help folks. In case anyone else needs this info.I found
a rate of $159 USD at alpharooms.com.-about $20 USD cheaper.I
challenged the Hilton "best rate" offer, and they of course found a loophole in the difference of cancellation policies.Oh well ,it was worth a try.

Justjean20001,
How did you get a price of $159.00? I found a price of $259.00 on that same site? We really thought this would be the perfect place to stay as it is walking distance to our very early morning flight.

Thanks!

Dear ABJS,
I did nothing special, maybe it's the time of year we're going-winter.Compare with the Hilton site to get an idea. The customer service is very good at alpharooms. Try to email them and see what happens.Good luck-post if you can with your results.

We stayed at Holiday Inn ROME-EUR PARCO DEI MEDICI our last night in Rome, which was about 12km from the airport. Great breakfast, shuttle to the airport for 9:30am flight, cost 115 Euro.
