Hilton locations in London
 

I posted earlier asking about the London Hilton Metropole and have realized that Hilton is having similar specials at some other London locations while I will be there. Not too familiar with London though so wanted to get input on the following locations: <BR> <BR>225 Edgware Road (called the Metropole); <BR>179 Holland Park Avenue (Kensignton); <BR>129 Bayswater Road (Hyde Park), <BR>Half Moon Street (Green Park/Mayfair) <BR>380 Kensington High Street (Olympia/Earls Court) <BR> Any insight as to proximity to tube stops and Central London would be appreciated.

I am not familiar with any except the one at Hyde Park. A 5 min walk to tube at Hyde Park Corner...actually not that far. Call the Hotels or visit the web sites or look at the London Transport web site...which I cannot remeber right now. <BR>Just some suggestions. <BR>BTW...I did not stay there but a friend did and the hotel at Hyde Park is nice and in a very nice section of town.

We stayed at the Hilton Olympia back in Nov, 98 because it was the only one that we could use our Hilton Points for the entire stay. It was not what I would consider central, but there was a tube station about 5 minutes away and a bus stop right outside. It was always a long 5-minutes and a long wait for the bus as it was freezing when we were there. <BR> <BR>The hotel was pretty nice with comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Next time, I'd rather stay more central, but for the right price, I'd stay there again.

I stayed at the Hyde Park Hilton in October 2000 and will be staying there in September 2001. It is a convenient location. You can walk to quite a few of the sites, museums, and great shopping and restaurants. Ask for a room with a view of the park. I did not ask, but got one anyway and loved it. BTW, this hotel's rates are reasonable for London.

I have also stayed at the Hilton Olympia and Brian is correct, it's a long walk to the nearest (working) metro or a long wait for the bus. There is a metro stop right next door but it's one of those special-events one, only is open sometimes (never when we were there). <BR> <BR>We also didn't think that area had a lot of charm or good places to eat. Thanks for all the info. Sounds like the Hyde PArk location is the best. Is the Kensington far from what is truly the Kensington neighborhood?

<BR> <BR>It is in Kensington, out past Nottinghill Gate, I have not stayed there. Not as Central as Hyde Park but tube station (Central Line) is close. <BR> <BR>Rich
