Hilton Hotels in London
 

Hi there,
we have been able to get some good prices for mnay Hilton hotels in London and are wondering which ones would be the best. We want clean, comfortable rooms and most importantly, a nice bathroom. The prices are between 80 and 90 pound for dates in July. Please let me know what you think. We are having a hard time working out which hotel to select.

I can only comment on the London Hilton since it's the only one I've stayed at.
I would stay there again if I could get that rate. The room wasn't huge but it was very nice and the bathroom was large and done in marble.
I really liked the location as it was close to the Green Park tube, Oxford St. for shopping and Hyde Park. Hope this helps.

Many of the "Hilton" hotels in London are not what you would expect from a Hilton in the US - that is a 4* business type hotel with all the basic amenities. Many of them (and I think this might include the ones you got those prices for) are really only 3* hotels - with only limited services - random hotels Hilton has bought and just slapped their name on.

I haven't seen the rooms in many - but understand you need to be very careful in your selection - not that they;re bad - but not what you exepct from Hilton.

Suggest you consult tripadvisor.com and the Hilton site - and read details very carefully.

there are so many Hilton's (and Conrad) in London, why not tell us which ones gave you good rates and then we can tell you about the quality/locations of those.

Don't do the Olympia one, it's a bit out of the way.

So that leaves Kensington and "Hyde Park" (it's really Bayswater). Position-wise, I'd suggest that Bayswater is more convenient (a shortish walk through the park will land you K'bridge/Belgravia/Chelsea/Mayfair/Oxford St. environs) than Kensington which is located much more to the west. As for the quality of each property, I'd say they're of a similar standard, however, do check reviews on tripadvisor.com.

As I suspected - those three Hiltons are not the prime mid-town properties. Nothing wrong with them, especially if the price is right, but none are in the center of things.

Of the three I'd probably choose "Hyde Park", over the other two. It's Bayswater location is the most central and you would be walking distance to Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens/Palace.

The "Kensington" is between Holland Park and Notting Hill, and the "Olympia" is out in West Kensington

I walked past the Hilton Kensington the other day and didn't think the location was bad. In fact, I liked it. It's right across the street from a stop on the 94 bus route (a 24 hour bus route) to Oxford Circus and those buses run about every 10 minutes (depending on traffic). It's also an easy walk on a tree lined street to the Holland Park tube station. And there are some nice small pubs and shops around that tube stop (Charrington's, the Mitre); after that you start to run into the hubbub around Notting Hill, which is good or bad, depending on your taste.
As for the hotel itself, don't know. A few years ago, there were quite a few complaints posted here. Perhaps it's been cleaned up and improved since then (hope so!), but check carefully on TripAdvisor and other sites to see what it's like now.
I don't mind the neighborhood around Olympia either, but that tube stop is not served frequently and it's definitely not as convenient as the other two.
