Hilton at Heathrow airport?

Has anyone stayed there? We have 3 adults ( which includes a 19 yr old). I was hoping to get a triple room, but can only get a double and single which is very expensive. Do you think it's worth the convenience? We'll just be spending one night before our BA flight leaves the next day.

Bumping! Hopefully someone will have comments on the Hilton.

I don't think it is worth it, that hilton is SOO expensive! They really charge for the convenience of being in terminal 4! I had an early flight out of heathrow a few weeks ago and stayed at the sheraton right near heathrow (there are lots of hotels right near) and it was a short cheap cab ride to get to terminal 4 for my flight, or you can take a shuttle too. Since there are so many other hotels close to heathrow I don't think it is worth it to pay the premium to stay IN terminal 4. But it depends on your priorities. Hope that helps and good luck!

I have not stayed at the Hilton but have stayed in quite a few of the hotels near Heathrow Airport before an early flight the next day.

If I were you I would try and get one with a triple room - a lot of these hotels should accommodate that. I have got triple rooms several times.

Have a look at the hotel section of www.holidayextras.co.uk, when you have input your date of stay, go past the page where you select the hotel accommodation (it will show a double room here) and you will see on the next page if you can choose a triple room option.

cheuvront,

Does your flight leave from terminal 4 (not all BA flights do)?

If not, the Hilton makes NO SENSE as it's miles away from the other terminals. If you are departing from terminal 4, it is very convenient - the other airport hotels are closer to terminals 1-3, so it's a longer ride to terminal 4 than to those terminals. I haven't stayed there myself though.

Hope this helps,
Andre

Perhaps it is the cheapskate in me, but I would suggest the Ibis Hotel (www.accor.com) at Heathrow. It costs about $100 and is about the most reasonably priced place and perhaps less at some times of the year. It's not fancy (about like a Motel 6), but the hotels at Heathrow are a bit on the expensive side. Be aware that there is no free shuttle bus to Heathrow from any of the hotels. I don't remember what the shuttle costs, but it's about $3 pounds each way I think.

I've stayed at the Hilton at Terminal 4 a couple of times, because I had meetings in the hotel. It is expensive because it caters for business people who fly in for meetings. Is it worth it to you to pay the extra? - I would say NO.

You can get a double room in any of the airport hotels, of similar quality, for about half the price. I generally pay about GBP 100-120 for a nice double executive room, and the Hilton at T4 was over twice that and certainly did not offer anything better. If you plan to be there for only one night, then you should certainly consider cheaper options, as recommended.

You can take the ?Hotel Hoppa? from any hotel on the strip to the airport for GBP3.50. The journey takes about 30 mins (but leave early in case of bad traffic into the airport) and the buses run every 15-20 mins. Maximum, the time difference, getting from the Hilton to T4 and an hotel on the strip, is about an hour.

Personally, I would weigh the cost and time/convenience differential and, considering there is nothing worth doing in the area for the extra hour, I would choose a cheapest option.

The only reason I would consider the Hilton T4 option is if I was considering taking the Heathrow Express into London that evening.

Sorry, I don?t have any experience of triple rooms.

Regards ..Ger

1) The "Hotel Hoppa" shuttle bus which serves the airport hotels near terminals 1-3 doesn't even go to terminal 4!

2) The Heathrow Express gets you from Paddington to the airport in 15 min (there are separate stops for terminals 1-3 and terminal 4), so it makes NO SENSE to stay at the Hilton if leaving from terminals 1-3 or at other airport hotels if leaving from terminal 4 - you might as well stay in London near Paddington station, for example at the Hilton Paddington, which is literally part of the train station!

Hope this helps,
Andre
