Hiking without luggage - Black Forest
 

Hello -

I'll be spending 5-6 days in the Black Forest (October) and would like to hike from village to village and have luggage delivered, etc.

Can anyone recommend any outfits that provide this? Are they all larger outfits, or do some smaller ones do for less money?

Don't want guided, just luggage delivery.

Google "Wandern ohne Gepaeck" not sure if their website includes English nowadays, but they used to provide luggage conveyance, b&b lodging and hiking maps for the Black Forest (self-guided and of varying day lengths).

Any hotel you stay in can call a taxi for you, to take your luggage to the next hotel you are headed for if that is what you want.

You either pay the taxi in advance or have hotel at B pay the taxi and add it to your bill.

Well actually the best idea bertschj, is to only pack enough to comfortably carry with you on your hikes from village to village.

I actually use the term 'credit card camping' to describe this kind of travel.

So for example, I hike from village to village in Switzerland quite often with everything I need on my back and a 'credit card' for food and beds. Thus 'credit card camping'.

My pack weighs under 11 lbs./5 kg. and that is for 3 days or 3 months in 3 seasons of weather.

But since you mention 'luggage' I have the feeling you are not likely to be able to do that.

Actually dulciusexasperis, I'm looking into that as well. Would certainly be cheaper. I looked at a couple packs this weekend that also serve as luggage (wheels, etc.). They were very light and I could easily fit what I need in there. Just might light the freedom a smaller pack has though.

On a slightly different subject, would I need to make hotel/inn reservations ahead of time? I'll be traveling mid-October, so the crowds would be down. I'd be looking for more interesting inns, vs. fancier hotels, etc.
