Hiking the Vikos Gorge in Greece - Advice Please

Hello,

I am a solo traveller and wish to hike the Vikos Gorge - my plan is as follows:

To bus to Monodendri (M,W,F only 1hr, 4E, 8am and 4pm), hike to Mikros Papingos (7hr through gorge) then stay the night and then Hike to Kildonia to catch bus back to Ioannina in the am.

Is catching the bus to Ioannina from Kildonia difficult? Any other options to recommend? I'm worried about hiking alone - does anyone know if organized hikes through the gorge are possible?

Any comments are appreciated,

Thanks

Murphy

Sorry, I posted this twice! I thought my top up didn't work....

Hi murphy89,

If you haven't done so already, post your question on the Lonely Planet's discussion board (the Thorn Tree), under both the Western Europe and Hiking and Trekking forums. This will increase your chances of a reply.

Is this the only hiking you plan for Greece, and when will you be there?

Thanks JQ reports - thats a good suggestion I will give it a try. This is the longest hike I have planned - I will be in Greece for 8 weeks from Aug-Sept. I decided to break up all the coastal scenery with a week in Northern Greece - I just don't know that hiking the gorge alone is a prudent idea....

Cheers,

Murphy

I guess I should be more specific - lol! Ioannina is on my itinerary Aug 22-25.
