hiking itinerary UK two months
 

Looking for recommended areas we can create an itinerary around hiking. Not camping. We'll hire a car so we can move about but want to go to a few places and spend a week or so in each one, mostly hiking about. Leaving May 9 from use, returning 6-8 weeks later. Thank you!

I recommend you choose the areas for your walks based on what else there is that you'd like to visit. Anywhere you go in the UK there will be great walks.

I liked the Cornwall Coastal Path. I did two walks in Cornwall: from Bude to Padstow, and from Padstow to Fowey (not coastal) I did B&B to B&B. Lake District is also good, as is Yorkshire, Scotland, Snowdonia, anywhere really.

The most obvious choices would be the Snowdonia area of northwest Wales and the Lake District. I would also seriously consider the coastal paths in both Cornwall
and Pembrokeshire. These will likely be less crowded than the others. The Cotswolds and Thames path are good too. Less spectacular but a good alternative since you have time to incorporate several areas.Of course there is also northern England and Yorkshire Dales, Yorkshire etc. For earlyMay,I might stick
to southern England ie. Cornwall, Pembrokeshire, Cotswolds etc.

I suggest you do some on-line research then get some guidebooks for specific areas. Lonely Planet and the Rough Guides are good choices. Also a good map of U.K

No one has mentioned Northumberland yet - there is HAdrian's Wall and the south Tyne, Keilder Forest and the North Tyne, or the Cheviot.

The Lake District is stunning, probably my favourite place in the UK.

The Cotswolds are also very beautiful.
