hiking in Ortisei
My wife and I only have one day to hike in Ortisei before going on to Venice. Should we take the Seiser Alm lift or the Furnes and Seceda lifts. We are both in good shape and are looking for the most picturesque scenery. Thanks in advance,

Hi,
I'd suggest the Seiser Alm. The cable car (Mont Seuc) leaves right from Ortisei. Fantastic scenery. www.alpedisiusi-seiseralm.com/index.html paul |
Well, you asked for it! You gave us 2 options and therefore you're likely to get at least 2 different answers. I have been to Ortisei a number of times (although I usually go for two weeks, not your 1 day) and I'd say Furnes and Seceda every time. The scenery is spectacular and the scope for hiking virtually unlimited. You would need to be a bit fitter here than for the Seiser Alm, which, as its name suggests, is flatter.

Hi J - Both are good ... but if you want shear awesome views I'd say ... neither of the above :)
Monte Seuc cable car IMO leaves you too far from the best part of Alpe di Siusi (Saltria-Sasso Lungo/Piatto area). Seceda is more visually stunning from the cable car summit. But your best option IMO if you only have one day is the CIAMPINOI lift from Selva (- 15 mins bus/drive above Ortisei). You get right off the cable car to one of the most awesome views in the Dolomites. JMHO ... Steve |
