Hiking in Black Forest
We are planning a weekend trip to the Black Forest and need help deciding where to go. We live near Frankfurt and will be driving. My husband and I will be traveling with my two daughters (2 years and 9 months). We would like to find someplace that we can hike for a couple of hours through the forest (preferably on flat terrain). Any suggestions as to which town we should stay in and where to hike?
Thanks!
Thanks!

We stayed in a small apartment in Gutach. We visited the Black Open Air Museum, which is very kid friendly with lots of animals to pet and at least one playground to play on. We also drove to Triberg and hiked to the waterfall. I don't remember it being a very difficult hike.

Flat terrain and Black Forest is a contradiction in terms.
However, there IS an option.
You may hike half around the Schluchsee and take the boat back. You will enjoy beautiful scenery and on the way you find a nice traditional Black Forest farmhouse serving regional food.
The total way around the Schluchsee is 12km, the most scenic section is from Aha to Staumauer (about 7km, with the restaurant Unterkrummenhof half way). The boat lands at Aha, Staumauer, Strandbad, Seebrugg. So you might start in Aha, hike to Staumauer and take the boat back. Parking is available.

The Titisee is very close to the Schluchsee. Schluchsee is much larger, on a higher elevation (950m above sea level) and in a less populated area. The town of Titisee is more lively than Schluchsee town. It's a matter of taste.
