Hiking from Gornergrat to Riffelberg (Zermatt)
 

Hello Everybody,

I will visit Switzerland in the coming April.

Can anyone tell me more about the Hiking Route that mention above ?

Is the Hiking Route full of snow in this month ?

Besides the above mentioned Route, Is there any good hiking route ?

At higher altitude like that, hiking routes open much later than April, late May to even mid June generally speaking.
Even lower routes (less interrsting view-wise) may not be open yet. You can write to Zermatt Tourism for more info.

April is still pretty much winter in the Alps.

From what I understand you can't hike from Gornergrat to Riffelberg in the winter time, it's just a summer trail.

We hiked from Rotenboden to Riffelberg in April last year though. The trail was groomed and made for excellent walking. It's only 1.75 miles so it took us less than an hour.

There are plenty of winter hiking trails in Switzerland, however, April-May is very much an iffy season. Which trails are open depends on the weather and the snow.

I wasn't sure if one can do that route in April so it's nice to know you did it.
